Black Bird

Published on

Mika was eleven years old when she first saw the little black bird. He wasn’t black at first though, but Mika could not remember this anymore. When she first saw it, its feathers were almost white, they were just starting to turn grey. But all this was gone from her memory.

Every morning the black bird would come to her window and sing a song. She had seen birds pass her window many times, singing beautiful songs that were not meant for her, but this bird decided to stop at her house. She felt like maybe this little bird could help her. She never had good friends, and her parents weren’t around often. Maybe the little bird could sing her a song every morning, and she could smile. The little bird was going to help her smile.

Two years passed, and the little bird finally turned completely black. It flew to Mika’s window one last time. He sang its song, and no one came to the window. The room was empty with everything packed in cardboard boxes. The little bird looked around and saw people dress as him walk inside the house.
